Too much information

I'm about a week away from going to South Africa for a month.

Wow.

The good news is that I'm going to see some people I love, I'm going to have the opportunity to do serious research for my doctorate, I'm going to get to share God's Word, and I'm going to hopefully get a better idea about the possibilities for orphan work in Pretoria.

The bad news is that my wife and girls aren't going with me.

Ouch.

Besides the missing them thing, and I am going to miss them like crazy (the longest I've been away before was about a week and I almost started crying myself to sleep); I am probably going to come back about 30 pounds lighter.

Here's the kind of helpless wimp I am.   I can make good toast.  And that's about it.  I still need to ask for Marda's help with eggs.

If I do lose all that weight though, I guess the good thing is, I can probably come back and write a book.  I think I'll call it "The Africa Diet…"

    Pastor Josh,

The Africa Diet – NY times best seller?

If you lose some weight then you could try an ultramarathon?

I read your previous post and it brought back memories of adoption via Bethany Christian services. When we looked at photos of children in orphanages abroad, it made me think of who is going to teach them about Jesus.

We are praying for you and your family as you make decisions and find out more about the ministry in Africa.

    Chris,

I appreciate you! We’ll miss you while we’re gone and look forward to talking when we get back! Thanks so much for your prayers.
