Not much happening?

10 Apr

Sometimes people will go to a small church and walk away thinking that not much is happening there. This is strange. It reveals that we don’t appreciate the miracle of salvation as we should. Can you imagine going to a place and meeting one person who was raised from the dead and going home and saying to your wife that you were disappointed because nothing much was happening there. What?

Think about all that God says happens in a person’s salvation. Yours, if you are a believer and the other believers in your church as well.

The Bible describes the great miracles behind this change as:

* Being born again (1 Peter 1:3)

* Going from being dead in sins to alive in Christ (Ephesians 2:5) Resurrected in other words.

* Being drawn by God the Father to Himself (John 6:44)

* A heart being opened (Acts 16:14) and eyes being made to see (Acts 26:18)

* Coming out of the dark into the light (Acts 26:18)

* Being transferred from the domain of darkness to the kingdom of His beloved Son (Colossians 1:13)

* Being brought near (Ephesians 2:13)

* Going from being children of wrath to God’s family (Ephesians 2:19)

* Going from being slaves to futility (1 Peter 1:18) to being completely complete (Colossians 2:10)

* Going from being alive to lust (Ephesians 2:2) to dead to sin. (Romans 6:11)

* Being set apart in our hearts for God Himself (Colossians 2:11)

* Dying, and our life being hidden with Christ in God. (Colossians 3:2)

* Being raised up with Christ and seated in the heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6)

There are times when I become discouraged and wonder what God is doing in my life. Sometimes I wish things would happen more quickly in the church. But this is only because I don’t appreciate what He’s done in my life and in the lives of the people around me. Can you imagine someone who really believed that all these things the Bible describes as happening in salvation ever coming to God and asking Him why He’s not doing more? Absolute craziness.

It is important that we not only have our doctrine of Christ right, we need to make sure we have our doctrine of the Christian life correct as well. God has done great things in our salvation. Believe it! Enjoy it! And think differently because it is true! Something greater than you can imagine has happened and is happening even when you think it is not.

I agree with you my pastor i think we don’t apreciate what God has done in our lives. i was speaking with my neibour he goes to a big church. i ask her what did she learn over the weekend. i was so disaapointed by her respond. so i think we need to be encouraged by what people are learning in our small churches. however i think we must also have a

burden for those people who goes to church for nothing. i mage travelling to a far place hoping to get some water to quench your thirst. only to find out there is dirty water. even though you are thirsty will probable not take a sip of such water. so my pastor let us join hands as the soilders of Christ and go to a battle field. lets go deeper where the fishes are.

And the grace of God will help us as we seek to glorify God in all that we do.
